Western Emulsions, Inc is pleased to announce the beginning of their final phase of a three phase Tucson terminal expansion plan. Phase one, completed in April of 2006, consisted of doubling their existing rail spur from 9 rail cars to 18 rail car capacity. This second rail spur build out increased Westerns total bulk material rail capacity from 810 tons to 1620 tons of base hot asphalt. “From an operational level this has allowed us the flexibility to use multiple suppliers with multiple products said Jeff Senkerik, Operations Director for Western Emulsions.

“We completed Phase two in late 2007 with the construction of two additional 125,000 gallon hot asphalt storage tanks to compliment the existing 2000,000 gallons of existing asphalt tanks. This allowed Western Emulsions to buy in bulk to take advantage of off season pricing while adding “spot supply” performance graded asphalt products to compliment its existing asphalt emulsion total product offerings. Phase three began March 1 and will consist of the construction of three one million gallon asphalt storage tanks.” said Don Lopez Chief Financial Officer for Western Emulsions.

“Western Emulsions has always been known for their high quality and innovative asphalt emulsion products for use in pavement preservation and pavement construction. The addition of performance grade asphalt materials will allow us to further service our customers without losing our laser sharp focus on emulsified asphalt.” said Wade Miller Marketing Manager for Western Emulsions.

We are thrilled to be diversifying our brand while better servicing our customers needs. During this time of growth we will not lose focus on our “customer first” culture that has existed since my family founded this company over thirty years ago.” said Bob Koleas, President of Western Emulsions.
